The 11th International Seminar for Priests will be held in Medugorje from 3 to 8 July 2006. The topic of the seminar is:

“Spirituality of the Priest”

Speakers at the seminar:

Prof. Dr. Klaus Berger was born in Hildesheim, Germany in 1940. He has been professor of New Testament Theology at the Faculty of Theology, University of Heidelberg since 1974. He is one of the most distinguished and renown German theologians and experts in the Holy Scriptures. His international reputation is built on his scientific books. Today he is the most widely read theological and spiritual author in Germany. He is close to the Cistercian order, fascinated by medieval mystics, particularly those of the Cistercian order, both male and female branch. He is an eagerly sought lecturer. Every year he gives more than 160 lectures all over Germany. He is also a regular speaker at German spoken meetings in Medugorje. He has written a large number of greatly admired scientific books. A year and a half ago his life work entitled Jesus (704 pages) was published. In March 2006 he ceases to be a full professor at the Faculty. However, he will continue to teach at the Institute of Cistercian Studies in Austria. Under his tenure 45 theologians received their doctor's degree and 8 habilitated as professors. His written as well as spoken word reveal a person of strong faith, deep devotion and mysticism.

Fr. Ivan Dugandžic – priest, Franciscan, member of the Franciscan Province of Herzegovina. He was born in Krehin Grac, District of Citluk, Herzegovina in 1943. In 1962, after having graduated from Dubrovnik high school, he joins the Franciscan order. He studies at the Faculty of Theology in Sarajevo and Königstein (Germany). He was ordained a priest in 1969. He enrolled in postgraduate studies and received his Ph.D. in Theology in Würzburg (Germany). Since 1990 he has been living and serving in Zagreb. He teaches Exegesis of the New Testament and Biblical Theology at the Faculty of Theology and its related institutions. His articles are published in theological newsletters.
His modern approach to various biblical subjects is published in religious newspapers. He has also written several books. He lived and served in Medugorje twice: from 1970 to 1972, and from 1985 to 1988.

Fr. Tomislav Pervan – priest, Franciscan, member of the Franciscan Province of Herzegovina . Born in Citluk, Herzegovina in 1946. He was ordained a priest in 1969. He received his Ph.D. in Theology of the New Testament in 1976. He worked as assistant counsellor of novices in the Franciscan Province of Herzegovina. He held the office of Medugorje Parish priest from 1982 to 1988. In 1990 he was elected provincial vicar. From 1994 to 2001 he held the office of the Provincial of the Franciscan Province of Herzegovina. Since 2003 he has been serving again in Medugorje. His articles, written in a way a modern man can relate to, explore biblical subjects and messages of Our Lady and are published in professional newsletters and religious newspapers. He has also written several books.

We ask all priests who have arranged their own accommodation with a family in Medjugorje to note in their application the name and the phone number of the family where they will be staying. We will arrange accommodation for all the priests who have no direct contacts and have not arranged their own accommodation. (Please note in your application if you wish us to arrange accommodation for you.)

Instead of a monetary payment, we ask you to kindly celebrate five Mass intentions. It is necessary to bring with you: your celebret given by your superior, an alb and stole, a Bible, a small FM radio with headphones (for simultaneous translation).

Many priests who do not have access to Internet may not have been informed about the existence of this international meeting in Medjugorje. Therefore, we kindly ask all Organizers of pilgrimages, Prayer Groups and Centres for Peace to publish this information as widely as possible by all means at their disposal, so that as many priests as possible may participate. In as much as it is possible, we also kindly ask you to financially assist the priests who would like to come but do not have the necessary funds for such a journey.
